Things to do with kids in the winter in Fargo-Moorhead

So, you can’t go to a baseball game or run around in a grassy park, but you can bring your kids to Fargo for plenty of family-friendly activities even in winter.  Whether that’s the great outdoors, artistic and learning endeavors, or the great (and warm) indoors, check out our list below and find what suits your family’s style.

Winter sports

Ice Skating

Fargo and its sister cities have over 30 outdoor ice rinks, and many indoor options as well! So if your kids (or you) have never skated before, Fargo is a great place to learn!

Unfortunately, ice skate rentals are not available at any of the outdoor rinks, but you can pick up a cheap used pair at Play it Again Sports or Scheels Sporting Goods. If you’d rather head inside to skate, the Moorhead Sports Center has rentals available on Sundays from 2:15pm-4:15pm.

Sledding

It isn’t incredibly hilly in Fargo but we still have some great sledding spots… and, it isn’t that tough to get back up to the top! Many parks in the area have sledding options, but you need your own sled for most. For free sled rentals, head to Edgewood Chalet during warming house hours.

Fargo Force

If you’d rather watch some sports, the Fargo Force games are always a hit with families. Activities throughout the game keep the whole family entertained for an entire evening.
