The Fargo Invaders semi-pro football team is proud to announce Joseph Barfknecht as the team’s new General Manager of football operations.
“I super excited to take over as General Manager, and to help the Invaders reach their goals, repeat as NEFL champions and get us to a National Championship,” Barfknecht said. “I would like to thank the Invaders organization for giving me the opportunity.”
Barfknecht brings a wealth of experience to the position. Barfknecht has over 15 years of experience as a junior college football coach and recruiter. Several current and former Invader players were recruited or played for Barfknecht in his tenure as Defensive Coordinator at M State – Fergus Falls. Barfknecht, along with Stich, will lead the charge in recruiting and retaining new and current Invader players for upcoming seasons.
With experience in marketing, Barfknecht will also look to help the 2019 Northern Elite Football League champions obtain sponsorships for the upcoming season and beyond.
“General Manager is the highest position we have within our Football Operations branch, so it’s great to find someone with Joe’s experience.” Invaders President, Matt Petznick added, “We want to thank Steven Othelot for his time served within our organization, and wish him well on his journey in Texas.
Barfknecht will remain as the Invaders Defensive Coordinator after joining Stich’s staff in 2020.
“I couldn’t be more excited for Joe,” Invaders Head Coach Zach Stich said. “As a player, I had a great deal of respect for Joe as he got the best out of each of his players. As a mentor, Joe helped me get my feet in coaching back in 2008. As a peer, we have collaborated on and off the field and his professionalism is what set him apart from others. His passion and investment in, not only football, but the Invaders is only matched by a few.”
The Fargo Invaders begin their 2021 season Sunday, Feb. 14 as they take the field for their first practice.
