Invaders Prepare for 2022 Season

The Fargo Invaders are already gearing up for an exciting 2022 season! Off-season events fire-up December 4th, as the 2021 NEFL All-Stars head to Las Vegas to take on the AZ Elite Vipers!! This is part of The Minor League Football Report Hall of Fame Weekend. At the end of September, the NEFL All-Star team defeated the MWUF All-Star team 33-0.

The following weekend, December 11th, the Invaders host their 2021 Awards Banquet from 5-7p at the Dakota Medical Foundation building.

Organized Team Activities (OTA’s) will begin January 9th with a Skills practice, followed by the Annual Combine on January 15th at the Sanford Power Center. Practices will commence every Sunday starting January 23rd.

Invaders coaching staff will remain relatively in-tact; led by Head Coach Zach Stich & Defensive Coordinator Joseph Barfknecht, Barfknecht also serves as the Invaders football operations General Manager.

October brought changes with the Fargo Invaders Board of Directors;
– President, Matt Petznick
– Vice President, Ruel Johnson
– Secretary, Christian Beatty
– Treasurer, Brent Lundgren
– Board, Melissa Schmidt
– Board, Claire Stich
– Board, Derek Alexander
– Board, Clyde Bryant
– General Manager, Joseph Barfknecht

After the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19, the 2021 season faced early uncertainties on if COVID would affect another season; teams around the Nation adjusted gameday protocols to be compliant with state, local, and school district requirements.

Change was inevitable, as the Invaders played home games at Moorhead High School in 2021 – the first full season not being played at Shanley High School (since 2014). Also, there was a new Coaching Staff after Brent Lundgren retired following the 2019 Championship season. Zach Stich was promoted from Offensive Coordinator and introduced a deep coaching staff, with several coaches either coaching with Stich at Minnesota State or playing for the Spartans under Stich.
With all those changes, the Invaders ended the season in the NEFL Semi-Finals, falling to the St Paul Pioneers 6-15.

2022 should bring some normalcy and more Excitement for the Invaders, with similar field accommodations, coaching staff, and player expectations.
