Getting to Fargo-Moorhead

Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo not only has an airport located within city limits but also is extremely easy to get around once you arrive. Hector International Airport (FAR) is located 10 minutes from Downtown Fargo and has 12 direct flights on 5 major airlines. Plus, full Uber and Lyft services and local taxis and rental car options will greet you upon arrival. If you’re within driving distance, we’re just a 3.5-hour drive from Minneapolis, Winnipeg, and Sioux Falls. Fargo is the largest community in North Dakota and Moorhead borders it on the other side of the Red River of the North. 

How to get to Fargo

In a car:

Fargo-Moorhead is located about 3.5 hours from Minneapolis, Winnipeg, and Sioux Falls by car. Right on the junction of I-29 and I-94, it’s a quick trip to many major Midwestern cities.

In a plane:

Fargo’s airport, Hector International Airport (FAR), has nonstop flights to Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Nashville, and Phoenix-Mesa all year round. You can also get connecting flights to almost every major airport in the US.

In certain seasons, you can also snag direct flights to Los Angeles, Orlando, and St. Pete/Clearwater.

Flying into Fargo is easy, and the airport is just a 10-minute Uber or Lyft ride (yes, we have both) from Downtown Fargo or the main shopping district.

Passengers headed to connecting Sun Country Airlines flights can take a bus between Fargo and Minneapolis for $15 on Landline. Other passengers will pay $29.

If you want to rent a car, several rental companies are available right at the airport to assist you.

In a train:

The Amtrak rolls into Fargo and can take you east, through Chicago, or all the way to Seattle on the West Coast. If you’re a romantic and love the idea of train travel, this is a great option. You can even get sleeper cabins for longer journeys from far-off destinations.

In a bus:

Bus lines link major places as far away as Portland, OR, and Chicago, IL, on direct lines to Fargo (no transfers!).

Landline will offer rides for passengers with connecting flights, making two stops at the Minneapolis airport, and students wanting a ride home or families planning a weekend getaway. Bus tickets for people who are not Sun Country passengers will cost $29 one way.

You can also hop on a large coach from places as close as Minneapolis, MN, or Sioux Falls, SD, and get to Fargo in a matter of hours. You’ll be dropped off in the heart of Downtown Fargo.
