FUN FACTS
• The captain of the boat is Bert, a volunteer firefighter from Moorhead who has a love for the water!
• The cruise is on the Red River of the North – one of very few rivers that flows north into Lake Winnipeg.
• The Red River marks the border of North Dakota and Minnesota, so you’ll be floating in two states at once!
• Geologically speaking, the Red River is a fairly new river which means it hasn’t had a ton of time to create a deep valley. This is one of the reasons that Fargo-Moorhead is prone to flooding in the spring.

HISTORY
The S.S. Ruby pontoon boat was originally owned by Riverkeepers, a non-profit organization based in Fargo-Moorhead. Although they no longer do history tours aboard the S.S. Ruby, Riverkeepers still runs tours by kayak and also runs a canoe/kayak rental shack located in Viking Ship Park.
