Day 1

Morning

Sandy’s Donuts

Start your day with a sugar rush at Sandy’s Donuts, your kids will love all of the different donut options and you can pair one with a Stumbeano’s coffee served at the counter.

Murals

Scour historic Downtown Fargo to find all of the picture-perfect murals! From an interactive Mario-themed wall to pretty angel wings, we promise you’ll find the perfect pic to commemorate your time in Fargo.

Afternoon

West Acres Mall

Start ticking things off your shopping list with a trip to the largest Mall in North Dakota – West Acres. Many big box stores along with the name-brand shops you love lie just beyond the front doors.

Tip: Check out some of the local art and creative artist studios called Aptitude while you’re there.

Sweet Dreams Confections

After spending the day roaming in and out of stores at West Acres, you’re bound to be ready for a treat. Sweet Dreams Confections is located right across the street from the mall and promises to help you curb your sweet tooth.

Evening

Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks

If you’re coming on a weekend in the summer or early fall, there’s bound to be a RedHawks game happening. Head over to the Newman Outdoor Field for a family-friendly baseball game.

Rhombus Guys Pizza

For dinner, we recommend heading back downtown to this family-friendly pizza spot. Rhombus Guys has really great pies and a wonderful rooftop patio to boot.

Day 2

Morning

Fryn’ Pan

This locally owned breakfast hub located at the base of Downtown Fargo in a brand new location should be your go-to spot for your next big day of back-to-school shopping. Try one of their omelets or one of their famous cinnamon rolls (or both!).

Zandbroz -> Unglued -> O’Day Cache

If you and the kiddos are looking for some one-of-a-kind clothes, bags, or books to stand out on their first day of school, head Downtown and specifically to the 300 & 400 blocks on Broadway. Zandbroz, Unglued, and O’Day Cache are great places to start for those unique items.

On your way out of the Downtown area, stop by Beans for one of their daily brews, and maybe a hot chocolate for the kids, topped with a mini donut!

Afternoon

13th Ave Shops

Back on the shopping grind, head over to the 13th Avenue corridor where you can find many of the stores you know and love. TJ Maxx and Marshalls will be great for a few new outfits while HomeGoods will get the college kids decked out for their dorm rooms. Walmart and Target will give you all the back-to-school supplies sales to help you check off your supply lists.

Kroll’s Diner

For lunch, head right up the road to Kroll’s Diner – this locally owned restaurant has the tagline “sit down and eat” for a reason. They mean business when it comes to their food and you won’t regret choosing it for your lunch-time hangout.

Evening

Thunder Road Family Fun Park

While shopping is definitely the reason for the trip with school just around the corner, the kids may be itching to do something else at this point. Thunder Road is just what you need, with mini-golf, go-carts, an arcade, laser tag, and more, fun will be had by all.

Space Aliens Grill & Bar

After all that family fun, head to Space Aliens for mouth-watering ribs, and pizzas that are out of this world. There’s also an arcade if some of the kiddos magically have any energy left.

In Other News

Schools are in the midst of deciding whether or not masks will be required for their students. Why not be prepared while you’re already out and about shopping? Several stores offer children’s size masks. Old Navy, Target, Tootsie’s Children’s Boutique, Carter’s, and Athleta are currently stocked.
